Folding Screen Card

Hiya Crafters! Thanks for popping by. I hope today finds everyone in good spirits. My sister-in-laws birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. She lived in Japan for a year teaching English so I thought I would do something with an Asian theme.Today I am going to show you how I do a folding screen card. I'm sure you've seen a bunch of them on Pinterest like me. I can't remember where I got the measurements from sadly so I don't have a link back to them. Sorry! But I will be glad to show you how I made mine.

Here's what you'll need:

• 11 x 8 1/2" cardstock for the base of your card
• two kinds of coordinating cardstock
• Border punch
• Decorative punch or cutesy die
• Paper trimmer
• Scoring tool
• Bone folder
• Stamping and die cutting tools

Let's get started. Take your base cardstock and place it longways on your scoring board and score at 2 3/4", 5 1/2", and 8 1/4".

Use your border punch across the top longways. This will be the top of your screen. Don't fold the score lines yet. I find it moves easier through your border punch without being folded first. 
With the 8 1/2" along the top and the top of the card to the left of of the blade, trim your paper down to 6 11/16". 
After you've punched the top out you can fold your cardstock in the mountain valley folds. After that you will either need to use a decorative label punch or a die that is similar. I don't have the punch so I used a die. On the first pass through, I had the base folded up and placed the die over the part I wanted to cut through holding it down with a post it note. I did it this way first so that it would lightly emboss the three other panels.

Continue to do this until you've cut the four panels and it will look something like this:

All that's left is decoration. Here are the measurements for the panels from bottom up:

• 5 3/8 x 2 9/16"
• 5 1/4 x 2 7/16"
• 5 1/8 x 2 5/16"

If you don't mind, I'd like to show you how I did the butterflies. I took some sponges and ink and went to town on white cardstock. I rubbed the ink out large enough for the stamps I'm using.

Then I just inked up my stamp in black StazOn ink and stamped over the circles. Is it just me or does anyone else like how that stuff smells? I can probably thank my dad for that.

After that it's just down to punching them out. While I do have a few sponge daubers I mostly use make up sponges and storage can sometimes get sketchy. I just got an organizing box and problem was solved. On the back of the lid I just taped a piece of paper with the name of the ink on it.
