Sponging Embossing Folders

Hiya, Crafters! I hope today finds everyone well. Today I want to talk about sponging embossing folders. It gives a nice effect and it's super easy to clean up. It's similar to inking up embossing folders, but using sponges and multiple inks.

Here's what you'll need to make this card:

  • Embossing folder
  • Ink
  • Sponges
  • Embossing machine
  • Stamping tools to finish the card
Let's get started! Pick out the colors you want on your embossing folders and sponges. I chose yellow, purple, and blue. Open your embossing folder and decide which side you want to ink, the raised or smooth. I did two separate pieces to show you the difference. Once you've decided which side to do, start inking your folder. Always start with the lightest color first.

Run it through your machine and you'll have something that looks like this:

I sponged ink the other side and placed them side by side for you. The one of the left I inked the raised image, and the one on the right is the smooth image. The differences are subtle so which ever way you like will be fine.
Do not use StazOn ink on your embossing folders. The ink I used here is water based and easily comes off of the folder without staining by simply holding it under the faucet.

I really like the finished card. I don't know if you can tell, but I love butterflies. I hope you enjoy using this technique! Thanks for popping by, Crafters! I'll see ya soon.
